- 2024 BOYS TOURNAMENT DETAILS
Tournament Rules:
- All Games will start promptly at the assigned times.
- Two 18-minute running halves; running clock with a direction change at halftime.
- Halftime will be two (2) minutes.
- The first alternate possession will always go to the team in the light-colored uniform.
- No Timeouts
- Continuous Clock, which will be kept by the field coordinator/referees. Everything goes on the Horn!!!
- Any foul language will result in a penalty, continued or excessive abuse will result in that player's expulsion.
- If a player is kicked out of a game, they are done for the remainder of the tournament.
- Players must be in the appropriate grades for their group for this school year (2023-2024).
- No Overtime
- All teams must have an adult coach to act as team representative.
- Referee can stop the game for any reason that he/she feels fit. Examples include serious injury, game equipment issues, weather, etc.
- The official score will be kept by both the table staff and the game officials. The staff and referee will confer throughout the game and stoppage to ensure the correct score. Coaches from both teams are responsible for verifying and signing the score at the end of each game.
- Championship Games are 25 Minute Running Time
- Tiebreakers – 2 Teams Head-to-head, Goals Allowed / 3 or more teams Goals allowed, Coin Flip
- Tournament will be played Rain or Shine. 3 Consecutive horns will sound if we have a lightning delay. Please head to shelter if those horns occur. If games are in the second half the remainder of that game will be cancelled. Scores will be recorded at the stoppage. Games in the first half will resume with the start of 2nd half. Future games maybe shortened to accommodate the schedule.
Boys Rules:
Boys Grades 1-2 Division Specific Rules
- No body checking. There is no such thing as a brush, contact to helmet will be a head penalty.
- No Time Served Penalties, teams will be given a fast break (Pass Rule Waived on Fast Break)
- No Long-poles
- 8v8
- 1 Attempted Pass
Boys Grades 3-4 Division Specific Rules
- No body checking. There is no such thing as a brush (like modified rules), it will be called a head penalty.
- 8v8, 2 Long poles are allowed
- All penalties are one minute running time
- 1 Attempted Pass
Boys Grades 5-6 Division Specific Rules
- No body checking. There is no such thing as a brush (like modified rules), it will be called a head penalty.
- 10v10 Morning / 8v8 Afternoon, 4 Long poles may be used
- All penalties are one minute running time
Boys Grades 7-8 Division Specific Rules
- NY State Modified rules
- No such thing as a brush
- There is a two-step rule in body checking. Anything more than two steps (even if legal) will result in a minute penalty
Girls Rules:
- If there is a foul at the end of a half or end of the game that results in an 8m, the free position shot will be played out. Once the shot is taken that is the end of the half or game.
- Red Card eliminates a player from the rest of the game AND THE NEXT GAME. Team also plays down for the remainder of the game (excludes 2031 and younger).
- Two (2) Yellow Cards are the equivalent to a Soft Red Card and that player is eliminated from the remainder of the game. This does not include the following game but is at the discretion of the tournament director.
- CARDS: A player will serve two 2) minutes for a yellow card and serve the duration of the game for a red card. The cards are non-releasable. Teams will play short for yellow and red cards: 2 minutes of elapsed playing time for yellow, 4 minutes of elapsed playing time for red.
3/4th Grade Girls Division Specific Rules
- 2 attack, 3 midfielders, 2 defenders, and a goalie (8v8)
- No Checking
- One Pass Attempted Rule
5/6th Grade Girls Division Specific Rules
- 4 attack, 3 midfielders, 4 defenders, and a goalie (12v12)
- Below Shoulder Checking
7/8th Grade Girls Division Specific Rules
- NY State Modified rules
